Hi! My name is Sophia Means. I am a freshman at East High School, and I have a younger brother and sister. I enjoy playing the violin and playing tennis, and I am on the East Robotics team. During the summers I love to go camping and volunteer at Sewall Child Development Center, an integrated preschool for both typical kids and kids with special needs. I am also passionate about reading and education. I am so excited to be a part of Project Lumina this year. I have always wanted to travel to other countries and connect with other cultures. I know this will be a life changing experience, I can't wait to work with the people in Nicaragua and become a Luminista.

Hi everyone! My name is Rachel Colson and I’m thrilled to be going to Nicaragua with Project Lumina! I’m currently a freshman at Denver East High School and am loving the big community. In my free time, I play competitive soccer and am on the board for the youth group at my temple. I also love fruit, music, and traveling.

Hi! I’m Natalie Angstadt and I go to Denver East High School. I play violin in a youth orchestra and for school musicals, I play soccer and run cross country, and I love to rock climb. I also babysit and work in a lab at the CU Med Center. My hidden talent is pogo sticking - I can pogo for several blocks and I’ve mastered stairs and ramps! I love traveling and I can’t wait to go to Nicaragua and speak some Spanish!

Hey! My name is Mina Hatayama and I'm a junior at an expeditionary Learning school called RMSEL. In my spare time, I enjoy surfing (one of the reasons I'm so excited to be traveling with project Lumina), coaching volleyball, and running. thanks so much for all the support!

Hi, my name is Addie. I am 14 years old and I go to DSST: Cole high school as a 9th grader. Besides being a high school student, I also play soccer for Rapids youth club and I am on the u15 Select team. But I also enjoy playing for my school. With playing soccer most of the time, I find it difficult to do other hobbies. But, I have found time to play piano, which I have played for ten years.

Hello! I'm Anne Hartshorn and I go to Denver School of the Arts for creative writing. I love working with the arts, and in my spare time I dance, babysit, and play piano. I absolutely love travel and can't wait to go to Nicaragua this summer-- thank you for your support!

Hi, my name is Fiona Marley and I am a sophomore at DSST Stapleton.  I love playing guitar, drawing, and spending time with my dogs! I am involved with robotics at school and love science and engineering. I am so excited to travel to Nicaragua this summer! Thank you for your support!

Vidoes of past Luministas

Maya shares with us about her experience as a Luminista and why she is so excited to join us again for another trip to Nicaragua in 2017, but this time as a Lumina Adventure Counselor!
Maeve was so impacted by her trip as a Luminista, that she now wants to give back to future Luminista's by being a safe place for them to grow and be challenged. She figured the best way to do this, is to go with them on their Luminista trip in 2017 and be a Lumina Adventure counselor!!
