The Luministas experienced multi-national collaboration first hand when they spent several days working and playing with the Rainbow Girls, a lively group of 13- to 16-year-olds from Managua. The two groups joined together to sort and input new library books and paint the San Juan del Sur Biblioteca lending library.
“We wondered if language would be a barrier,” said Jennifer. “But girls will be girls, and the two groups found a lot in common with each other. By the end of our time there, the Luministas and Rainbow Girls had bonded, calling each other sister or ‘Hermana’ and vowing to keep in touch. They exchanged emails and Facebook pages and have been in constant contact since. These new ‘forever friends’ will not soon be forgotten.”
